Microsoft’s Xbox Live Preview Program members got a warning from the company’s Director of Xbox Live Programming Larry Hryb (also known as Major Nelson) on Monday, telling them to make sure they are authorized with their memory units. This message came from his blog.

The Preview Program, which will allow select users to test applications like Facebook, Zune and Twitter over XBL, will start to update consoles next week and for any clients not using authorized Xbox 360 memory units, they will no longer be able to access them. Even users who used an unauthorized memory unit for back-up purposes will no longer be able to access anything stored on that unit—not even their profiles.

Unauthorized memory units are those not produced by Microsoft, such as ones made by Datel—a company who also produces the Xbox 360 transfer kit to move data from your console to a PC (and visa versa).
