There are few people in Hollywood who would deny the popularity of Jay Leno, a guy you might see at Bob's Big Boy on Riverside Drive or out driving an exotic car or motorcycle in the Malibu hills. Leno is the kind of guy who waves back when you wave at him. That is the reason it was appropriate for Leno to score a visit from President Barack Obama yesterday, March 19. Like Leno, Obama is immensely popular with Californians, so the two of them together could be considered a double whammy.
Leno was clearly in awe of having the President on his show, but he did manage to get in a good one when he talked about the financial guys who got us into the current mess and said, "Shouldn't someone go to jail?" The audience was with Leno on that one before Obama could explain his feelings on the matter (stunned and outraged were words that stuck out) but that everything that had happened leading up to the crisis was perfectly legal. He obviously was referring to the likes of the AIG bonus eaters and not the Bernie Madoffs of the world.

Leno unabashedly told President Obama as he was leaving that his appearance on the show was his happiest moment. The audience and countless Californians felt the same way for the President who held local town hall meetings, visited schools, and took time to let us get to know him better as a person on one of our all time favorite places--The Jay Leno Show.
