Summer theater - part 5 - The ReVision Theatre plans two events

The ReVision Theatre is planning two productions for this summer season, both of which will take place at locations in Asbury Park.
The ReVision Theatre began as The Genesius Guild in 1995 in New York City. Last year, it moved the base of operations to Asbury Park and is now a New Jersey professional regional theatre company. Their goal is to produce theatre with new perspectives. And that is exactly what they did last year.
They took the old Carousel House on the Boardwalk, and transformed it into a summer theater. The look of the theater inside last year for Hair was in the round style with plenty of seating (although a little uncomfortable at times!) and heavy draperies over entrances that served as doors. A nice service bar was set up outside the entrance; portajohns were available for bathrooms, and loads of parking just feet away from the entrance. Their production of Hair was really good. The “Tribe” was full of energy and fine singing. And those draperies served their purpose for the scene right before intermission!
The ReVision Theatre does productions throughout the year and uses other interesting locations in the Asbury area but this summer, they will be doing the following:
Funny Girl – Saturday, July 11 - This special benefit performance will be held at the Paramount Theatre on the Boardwalk in Asbury Park. Steven Brinberg will be playing Barbra Streisand in Funny Girl. Lainie Kazan is also scheduled to appear. This is a one night only show.
The Full Monte – August 12 – September 6 – This show will be in the Carousel House and probably those heavy draperies will come in handy again! This should prove to be a fine location for this show especially at that time of year when you can step outside during intermission and enjoy that sea breeze and salty air.
