Abdul Gaddy is the state's top basketball recruit this year. He gets overlooked since Bellarmine Prep is not doing well this year. A major reason why Bellarmine Prep is not as good this year is the absence of Avery Bradley. Gaddy and Bradley made up the best backcourt in the state for three years. They were known as fire and ice, but this year Bradley is playing in Nevada. He made the decision to transfer prior to his senior season. Bradley left a big hole for Bellarmine Prep to fill -- the team could not replace the chemistry that he and Gaddy had the three seasons they played together.
This was just one of the big changes Gaddy has faced -- his decision to commit to Washington was the other. Gaddy previously made a commitment to Arizona -- a school that was a favorite for Seattle area guards. Jason Terry and Michael Dickerson were the standouts that took their game to Arizona.
It was great news when Gaddy changed his commitment to stay at home. Another player that did something similar was Venoy Overton. Overton had committed to another school then changed his mine and became a Husky. The backcourt of Gaddy, Overton, and Thomas will be fun to watch next year. If Bradley had chosen the same path as Gaddy, the Huskies would have had one of the best backcourts in the country. Bradley committed to Texas and will likely contribute once he gets to campus. He is currently finishing up his high school career at Findlay Prep in Henderson, Nev. It was great seeing Gaddy and Bradley in the same backcourt -- maybe some day it will happen again.
Peyton Siva gets more attention then Gaddy because of what the Quakers are expected to do this season. The same could have been said about Gaddy -- if he was still teamed with Bradley.
