Jon Brockman made his preseason debut in Portland last night. Playing a little over 18 minutes -- Brockman pulled down six boards and dropped four points. He connected on two of his four shots -- points weren't the reason why the teams looked at Brockman. His work ethic along with his ability to rebound the ball are his strengths -- in the right system Brockman can flourish into a solid role player.
Playing with the Kings Brockman joins his former AAU and Washington teammate Spencer Hawes. Hawes finished the game with five points, one assistant and three boards. The former Seattle Prep Panther was not the only Seattle high school player on the floor.
Brandon Roy, Garfield Bulldog and Martell Webster, former Seattle Prep Panther suited up for the Portland Trail Blazers. Roy has established himself as an upcoming star of the N.B.A. Webster has been bothered by injury, but when on the floor he shows flashes of being a solid contributor.
Seattle does not have a N.B.A. team anymore, but the city was represented well last night in Portland. Brockman, Webster, Hawes, and Roy give the city of Seattle something to cheer about -- in terms of N.B.A basketball. Brockman recently signed a contract with the Kings -- he deserves a spot for all the hard work he has put in.
