  Pears

Here is a very quick and easy recipe using store-bought ice cream and fresh pears.  It makes a delicious home-made ice cream without having to go to the trouble of making your own custard base.

Quick and easy pear spice ice cream
2 ripe, fresh California Bartlett pears, cored and chopped
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp brown sugar, optional
1/4 tbsp ground allspice
1/4 tbsp cinnamon
1/4 tbsp nutmeg
1 quart  vanilla ice cream, softened

Combine pear and lemon juice in a blender or food processor. Add sugar and spices; blend until smooth. Stir into softened ice cream. Pack into freezer container and freeze at least 6 hours before serving. (Makes 8 servings) Recipe from the California Pear Advisory Board.
