The last few days have been the first of the last several weeks to reach near 60 degree temperatures and sunny skies. The fall temperatures and weather we have been seeing is allowing for consistency in activity now. The cold has knocked the fishing pressure down to the die hard anglers.
Muskie
Muskie action has increased tremendously on suckers statewide. The lakes in the metro area that are seeing the best success are Minnetonka, Calhoun, Harriet, Independence, White Bear, and Forest. The last two have also been giving up fish on bucktails. The fish seem to be in and around any remaining green weedbeds that are around breaks and in and around 12 feet of water.
Walleye
The walleye bite has slowed down according to reports, but it may simply be from a drastic loss in fishing pressure and reports recently. Of the reports, walleyes have been biting on minnows on both Minnetonka and the St. Croix River.
As the fishermen continue to switch over to the hunting season, we encourage those who are fishing to turn in their reports of both success and failure to bait shops and outdoor stores around the cities.
