Kevin Costner releases debut album and plays Grand Ole Opry
On the eve of the 42nd annual Country Music Association Awards, Kevin Costner released his first album, “Untold Truths”.
Costner has recalled performing with his band in 2005, looking out at the crowd, and thinking, “‘This just feels right.‘”
That led to his debut album, released three years later on November 11. "Untold Truths" has 12 original tracks, all written or co-written by Costner and Modern West (John Coinman, Blair Forward, Teddy Morgan, Larry Cobb, and Park Chisholm), said Universal Republic/Universal Records South. Costner ‘fessed up to Country Music Television that he had “a little bit of terror, tremendous nerves” about accepting the Grand Ole Opry gig. He thought, “’I cannot not do this because I’m afraid.’ I thought about wilting like a daisy.” This, from a man who danced with wolves and won a Best Picture Oscar for it. In 1990, the co-producer/director/actor's film "Dances with Wolves" took Best Picture.
