Meet romance erotica author - Alison Paige/ Paige Cuccaro
Paige Cuccaro also writes as Alison Paige. She lives in Ohio, with her husband, three daugthers, three dogs, three cats, a parakeet, and a bearded dragon named Rexy, in an ever shrinking house. When she's not writing she can be found doing the mom thing with a book in one hand and a notepad and pen in the other.
Sally: "When did you first start writing romance?
Paige: "1991 Right after the birth of my oldest daughter. I’d read Interview with a Vampire and LOVED it and I knew I wanted to do that, make a book come alive in the reader’s mind."
Sally: "I loved that book too and all the others after. Is there one particular thing that about this genre that appeals to you or is it everything?"
Paige: "I love the happily ever after, of course, but I also love the dawning of emotion between two people. I love feeling them fall in love. It's almost as good as the real thing. Who doesn't like that?:
Sally: "I agree. I love reading romance and experiencing the rush the heroine and hero feel and watching the relationship grow stronger throughout the book. Did anyone have an impact or influence on your writing?"
Paige: "I have to say, Anne Rice. Her books are what started me writing. But there have been so many writers over the years that have taught me so much just by reading their work. Lori Foster has always been an auto buy for me. Her characters always seem so real and their emotions so vivid. Her heroes are strong and confident, but treat their heroines right. Christine Feehan’s sexy, lusty vamps are the perfect, tortured heroes and the heroines of Laurell K. Hamilton, Kim Harrison and Kelley Armstrong are great examples of strong femininity. I’m influenced in some measure by all my favorite authors."
Sally: "I think at some point in time we all are when we strike out to write book. How couldn't we since those are the very authors who've inspired us to write.<G> Readers always want to know something personal about their favorite authors. Do you have a wriitng schedule, is the most popular question.
Paige: "I write Monday through Friday 9 to 2:45 and then pick up again (most nights) from 11 pm to 12:30. Those are the times my family is busy doing their own things and my time is all mine. I think keeping a steady work schedule helps productivity. Like any profession there are days you REALLY don’t feel like getting to work, but having the schedule helps get my butt in the chair. I’m great at guilt tripping myself."
Sally: "Sticking to a schedule is my greatest challenge when so many other schedules have to worked in like shuffling a deck of cards, but you're right about needing one and being consistent in keeping it. Now, I noticed something very interesting going on at your website. Want to tell us about it?
Paige: "I call it The Writer’s Cave and it’s a collection writer’s office photos. I have nearly 100 authors participating so far and I hear from writers and readers alike who’ve spent hours going through all the photos. I think it’s fascinating to see where authors do their creating, to imagine them sitting there dreaming up your favorite stories. For writers it’s great to see how alike we all are. Almost everyone has the sticky notes or a white board. I get photos of dogs and cats curled up close (or on) chairs and desks and so many of us have a little toys close at hand that help break up brain clogs when they happen.
Sally: "My cat is always curled on my desk and loves to interrupt my concentration by head butting me when she feels neglected. I saw your upcoming release from Samhain isn’t your usual genre. What’s different about it?"
Paige: "Tame Horses Wild Hearts is my first erotic romantic suspense. As an erotic romance, it came out under my penname, Alison Paige on May 19 2009. This story was a long time coming. It’s actually the very first story I ever wrote. Of course it’s gone through a lot of changes and rewrites since then, but the heart of the story is the same.
"It’s set on a rural Pennsylvania horse farm and mixes the old city mouse (Joe the hero) and country mouse (Kate the heroine) stories with a dangerous fatal attraction, some sharp retorts and a lot of sexy romps in the haystacks. Tame Horses Wild Hearts is only the second non-paranormal romance I had published, but it’s my first stab a suspense. I have to say, I LOVED the added thrill. The characters all felt so real to me, even the secondary characters were vivid in my mind. I hope it comes across that way. Being my first born story at the same time as my first born child, Tame Horses Wild Hearts will always have a special place in my heart."
