courtesy morgue filesYou’ve heard of a singles’ cruise, but how about a singles’ flight?

Here are the details:

Love is in the air at Air New Zealand with the announcement of the world’s first Matchmaking Flight – the perfect trip for those who would travel the world for love and for those who have felt sparks for the stranger in the middle seat. Testing the concept of ‘opposites attract,’ Air New Zealand is flying singles to the opposite side of the Pacific with the aim of finding each a partner in air or in New Zealand.

And as all good matchmakers should, Air New Zealand is providing a platform to connect those with similar interests, inviting those interested in the flight to upload an online dating profile at www.thematchmakingflight.com. The site is a Matchmaking Flight-dedicated social environment created for American and New Zealand singles to start connecting six months before take-off.

The flight will depart Los Angeles International Airport for Auckland, New Zealand, on October 13, 2009. Roundtrip ticket prices start at $780 (USD).* The Matchmaking Flight experience includes: a pre-flight gate party; themed food, drink, and games throughout the flight; entertainment; and a large-scale, singles-only party at the SKYCITY Convention Centre in Auckland, New Zealand.

*Excludes government fees and taxes of approximately $82 (USD)
