Ask Sally - romantic anniversary

Sally,

Can you recommend a good place for my husband and me to celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary? We want someplace not too far due to gas prices we live in the Charlotte, NC area. Thanks, enjoying your site.

Ellen,

I'm glad you are enjoying the site. There are several places that come to mind.

Asheville, NC is a super place and only about a 2 hr drive from you. You can jump on the Blue Ridge Parkway and really enjoy the day. Asheville downtown is a mixture of many styles. Pack Place has great productions and then there's the Biltmore House and Gardens you can tour. If you time it right, you could enjoy the fall foliage.

If you are feeling more road worthy, I'd suggest Savannah, GA  - one of my favorite romantic cities. With its 22 squares, Savannah is walking friendly. And you can take this route  there to really enjoy the drive.

You can take a carriage ride, a steamboat dinner cruise, ride the trolley, ghost walks, a broadway-style production, and other entertaining nightlife attractions as well as wonderful food.

The accomodations range from economy to high-end luxury. While shopping, you can go enjoy the Savannah River and watch the large ships and barges trafficking up and down its length.

If you want to enjoy a day at the beach, you can drive out to Tybee Island. You won't go wrong if you choose Savannah. Lots and lots of romance awaiting you there!
