The Witness, an award-winning documentary about one man’s crusade for animals will air this weekend on WEDU in Tampa. The story follows Eddie Lama—a construction worker from Brooklyn who never really cared for animals. That is, until he met a cat that changed his life. Since then he has become a passionate advocate for animals.

Said Lama, “In my lifetime I have been both the oppressor and the oppressed, both the fomenter of discord and the advocate for peace, both the perpetrator and the victim. But most significantly, I have been both the silence and the voice. It is the human voice that is the primary tool for change."

But more than just a story of one man’s love for animals, it is a call-to-action for people everywhere to take an active role in making positive changes. “Eddie's story is about changing your life, taking a stand for those who can't and being true to what is right—whether it's on behalf of animals or any other cause. It's a call to all of us to do something, to make a difference. In a cynical world, that is something we can't be reminded of enough,” said Alicia Silverstone, vegan advocate for animal rights.

The Witness will air Sunday, June 28 at 10 pm and July 26 at 8 pm. See this e-vite for more details.
