The Apollo is kicking off its own farewell tour for the King of Pop this Tuesday, June 30th and Wednesday July 1st.
On Tuesday from 11:00am -8:30 p.m. several DJ's will actually be spinning MJ's music as cycles of 600 fans will be allowed to come inside the famed Apollo and see memorabilia commemorating MJ's spectacular career. Al Sharpton will say a Eulogy at around 5:30 pm. There is also a 30 min video tribute.
Look trust me this is a nightlife event. Its going to be a party not boo-hoo event. ou all saw video of how Harlem is celebrating MJ right? If not then watch here.
With DJ's playing for the crowd in and out there its going to turn into an instant block party. If they're letting in 600 at a time that means there will be thousands on the streets!!! Expect a lof of singing dancing and people selling food and items on the street. I was just outside the Apollo the other day and the sidewalk by the Apollo is already full of vendors hawking goods and the tribute wall is erected. Its a happy vibrant scene. Its life celebration not wallowing in death. If you haven't been to the Apollo or not in a long time this is the time to make a visit.
On Wednesday the Apollo's Amateur night will be dedicated to the gloved one. There will be a Moonwalking contest which anyone can enter. Check the Apollo's website for more details @ www.apollotheater.com/
So head up to Apollo for the last great tribute to MJ!!! Trust me after this I too may be MJ'ed out too but this is too memorable of an event.
