Blending the romantic underworld of Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles with that of True Blood's Sookie Stackhouse, and you've got quite a vampiric combination. The joining of the two worlds of vampires is the theme for this year's Halloween gala ball this Friday night, October 30 in New Orleans.

The title of the ball has changed a little. "Tru Blood and Gold Ball" is the revised name of the event in honor of the special guest who will be attending: Charlaine Harris, author of the Sookie Stackhouse/Southern Vampire series (aka "True Blood"). She will also be doing a book signing on Halloween Saturday, October 31st, at the Garden District Bookshop. In addition to Charlaine, Gabrielle Faust, author of "Eternal Vigilance," will be in attendance. "Tru Blood and Gold Ball" offers live (hmm, are we sure?) entertainment including music from Marc Gunn, the Kinky Tuscaderos, and Saints of Ruin. The venue for the ball is The Republic in the Warehouse District. An after-party for the Ball is currently planned at The Dragon's Den. Tickets are $20 each for fan club members, and $30 for general public. Bear in mind, tickets for the general public will only be made available after members have purchased theirs. Doors open at 8pm.
