ChopTop's Top 10 horror scenes - in time for Halloween
He won our hearts (and probably cut a few out) as "ChopTop" in 1986's "Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2." Who would believe that one of our favorite horror stars, Bill Moseley , probably best know for his roles in Rob Zombie's "Halloween 2," "House of 1000 Corpses" and (our favorite) "The Devil's Rejects," is a Yale graduate?! He probably partied with us at Boppers or Toad's Place in downtown New Haven!
A great guest at conventions, Bill is starring along with Corbin Bernsen in the Bernsen-directed film "
Dead Air," which we reported on in a previous column. Today is the DVD's official release date, and today we get to reveal a well-thought-out top 10 list written exclusively for Horror Happenings by Bill Moseley just in time for Halloween (you gotta love a list that mentions both "Attack of The Giant Leeches" and "Beast from Haunted Cave").
Before we present the list article, we would like to remind you about "Dead Air." In the film, an outbreak has caused virus-crazed maniacs to run rampant in the streets. Moseley plays the DJ hero, and the movie is available as of today from the website

Now this is what we call a Terrorble Top List!: Bill Moseley's Top 10 Horror Scenes
10) the scene in "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" when the girl in shorty-shorts stumbles into the "living" room full of chicken feathers & bone furniture and sees a large white chicken clucking in a small canary cage. When she tries to escape, Leatherface grabs her around the waist, carries her into the kitchen and hangs her on a meat hook!
9) the scene in "House of 1000 Corpses" when Grampa (Dennis Fimple) and I are arguing while we're watching an episode of "The Munsters" and I'm throwing knives at Chris Hardwick. Big yuck yuck value for me!
8) In "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2," the Radio station scene when DJ Stretch (Caroline Williams) meets my character, Choptop, for the first time. She takes me on a very brief "tour" of the lobby, then tries to get rid of me. But I still want to hear the tape-recording of the chainsaw mayhem me & Bubba visited on some yuppies & their car the night before, so I back up Stretch in front of the record vault where Bubba springs out with his big ol' saw!
7) The scene in "The Innocents" where Deborah Kerr sees a ghost woman sitting on the water in the estate lily pond. Just a spooky, haunting image that has stayed with me all these years.
6) The grand finale of "Jaws" when Bruce, the shark, eats Robert Shaw w/ big, bloody chomps!
5) the spooky scene in "Carnival of Souls" where Candice Hilligoss dances with ghosts in the old Saltair Pavilion on the Great Salt Lake. Spooky scene, spooky organ/ calliope music.
4) the Kahiki Palms Motel scene in The Devil's Rejects where poor Kate Norby runs for her life wearing her dead husband's skinned face. She makes it all the way to the highway, only to be smacked down by a high-balling semi!
3) the ending of the original "Night of the Living Dead" where Ben, who has survived a night-long onslaught of zombies & crazy humans, is mistaken (?) for a zombie and shot between the eyes by a redneck posse. Director George Romero uses b&w stills to show the rednecks meat-hooking Ben's dead body and tossing it on a burn pile!
2) any scene where we were told to put on our 3-D glasses during the original "Thirteen Ghosts!" Dr. Zorba, I can still hear your ghastly breathing!
1) toss-up between "Attack of The Giant Leeches" and "Beast from Haunted Cave" where captive humans are being suck/drained of blood by giant leeches and a giant spider. The actors really sold it, sobbing through weak protests as the filthy creatures had their way.
