The Nanny Diaries became a big hit seven years ago when it gave us a glimpse into child-rearing in the world of the Manhattan elite. Now, authors Emma Mclaughlin and Nicola Kraus have written a young adult novel to charm a whole new audience.

The Real Real also takes place in New York, but this time instead of the city, it is set out east in the Hamptons. Jessie O'Rourke, a high school senior in the Hamptons, is chosen to be in a "documentary" (reality show) being filmed at her school. Will her life ever be the same?

Emma Mclaughlin and Nicola Kraus met while they were both attending  New York University. They  currently live in NY'C. They have been traveling doing book talks and signings for The Real Real and this Tuesday night, August 25 at 7pm, they will be in Brooklyn at Clifton Corner, a tutoring and coaching center. The event is free but you should call or email to reserve space.
