One of the wonderful things about NYC is all of its fantastic parks. Not only do they provide fun things to do during the day, but you can also find many great activities at night. If you and/or your teens love movies, then you will want to take advantage of all the free movie nights many of New York City's parks are holding this summer. They are not just for teens, but each one of them are playing many movies that teens will enjoy seeing.

  • HBO Film Festival at Bryant Park - The movies run every Monday night from June 15 to August 17 and begin at dusk (between 8 and 9). The lawn opens at 5pm for blankets. So go early and have a picnic. Two movies that teens should especially see here are Breaking Away and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
  • Central Park Film Festival - Their 7th annual film festival is being held this year from August 18th to 22nd, with one movie each night for the 5 nights. The biggest teen film from the past year, Twilight, will be screened on Friday night, August 21st.
  • Movies with a View at Brooklyn Bridge Park - Every Thursday night from July 9th to August 27th, you can listen to music from DJs, then see a short film and then the feature film, all from under the Brooklyn Bridge. The films playing here are mostly classics with Edward Scissorhands one that teens should all want to see.
  • Hudson River Park River Flicks - Every Wednesday night for grownups and Friday night for kids, movies are screened at dusk and popcorn is available for free. There are movies that teens might want to see on both nights. The grownups nights have Iron Man, The Dark Knight, Tropic Thunder and Pineapple Express. Kids night has Ghostbusters and Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
