Bristol Palin, the 18 year old daughter of former Republican VP nominee Sarah Palin, spoke to a group of 150 teens about teen pregnancy in NYC yesterday. Bristol recently was named Teen Ambassador for The Candies Foundation to help create awareness about the consequences of teen pregnancy. Bristol, who was already pregnant at 17 when her mother began her Vice Presidential run, now has a little boy named Tripp.
Bristol Palin's message to teens is to use abstinence. Earlier yesterday Palin told ABC's "Good Morning America" that abstinence is the safest and best choice for teens. Not surprisingly, the audience of NYC teens did not take this advice well, especially coming from her.
Some teens wouldn't listen since she herself couldn't abstain. Others don't even think that she believes in abstinence and that she is just being her mother's mouthpiece. And most just don't believe that abstinence works.
Some of the other spokespeople for the Candies Foundation are Hayden Panettiere of Heroes, Matt Garza of the Tampa Bay Rays, and Ann Shoket of Seventeen Magazine.
