After you finish reading a book that you loved, wouldn't it be great if you could see it continue. What if you could even have a hand in writing the continuing story. The Amanda Project allows teenage girls, 12 and up, to do just that.
The first book of the Amanda Project: Invisible I, was launched on September 22, 2009. Eight books are planned for the project. The books will work in tandem with a highly interactive website that features social networking, online games, and user generated content to create a totally collaborative reading experience for girls ages 12 and up.
Invisible I is a mystery in which Amanda disappears and clues are left behind for her friends. At The Amanda Project website fans can become a character and create a profile, comment on weekly stories and post their own theories (with the chance to be included
in future stories and even published in the books), upload art, listen and download the character’s favorite music, uncover clues, and discover more about Amanda.
If you live in NYC and have a teen or tween daughter, come celebrate the publication of the first in the 8-book series - Invisible I - and launch of The Amanda Project! Hear author Melissa Kantor read from the book and talk about writing collaborative fiction. They will also also taking submissions from tween and teen girls who aspire to be writers! Have your daughter send her latest piece of fiction (up to 500 words) to events@theamandaproject.com, and they will pick a select group of writers to read at the event! This event is being held on Sunday, October 11th at 4pm at the Barnes & Noble at 150 E. 86th st. at Lexington Ave.
