Six idyllic destinations where you can escape the Internet and everything else
Believe it or not, there are still some truly idyllic places left in the world where honeymooners and romantic travelers can truly escape from it all---no TVs, no iPhones, no Blackberrys, no Internet.
Don’t believe it? Here are six perfect retreats where you’ll actually have the luxury of being alone together, with no modern distractions to get in the way:

- UP A HILL WITHOUT A CELL PHONE: Canadian Mountain Holidays (CMH), the company that invented Heli-Skiing and Heli-Hiking in Western Canada, offers guests an incredible mountain experience in both winter and summer. This is an opportunity to truly "get away from it all" in style and comfort amid some of the most spectacular scenery imaginable in an area roughly half the size of Switzerland. Eleven of CMH's 12 remote lodges have no cell-phone service (although a radio phone is available for emergencies), but for those who need to be connected in some way at their own convenience, internet service is available.
- LUXURY IN THE HIMALAYANS: Amankora, in the spectacular Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan, gives guests the opportunity to truly escape through the Aman ethos of tranquility and timelessness. The Amankora circuit offers stays at five lodges nestled strategically throughout the pristine Bhutanese landscape. Many contemporary and modern amenities fuse with traditional design but given the remote nature of Bhutan, cell-phone service is not available and therefore not a distraction to the harmony and mystical nature of this special place. Limited internet connection is available at three of the lodges. The Amankora, derived from the words “aman” (peace) in Sanskrit and “kora” (circular pilgrimage) in Dzongkha, the Bhutanese language, are brought to you by the luxurious Aman Resorts.

- DETACH IN THE OKAVANGO DELTA: Set on a secluded island in a 120,000-acre private concession in the heart of Botswana's famed Okavango Delta, Xaranna Tented Camp serves as an oasis amidst the winding waterways. The only way to get there is boating through the channels, which are created when elephants and hippos walk through the tall grass. There are no televisions, phones, cell reception or internet access and guests spend their days exploring the terrain and wildlife and evenings enjoying fine food and listening to the sounds of Botswana. The region offers some of the world's best birdwatching and some of the finest game viewing in Africa, including sightings of rare roan antelope, lechwe, tsessebe, elephant, lion, hyena and cheetah. It is a true journey back to another world.
- ROAMING...OUT OF NETWORK IN PERU: Navigating through headwaters of the Amazon River Basin, Aqua Expeditions' MV Aqua takes guests into some of the most remote and pristine areas of the Peruvian Amazon only accessible by boat. The ultra-plush 12-suite MV Aqua transforms into a floating island of endless vistas and endangered wildlife viewings; thousands of miles away from the nearest cell-phone tower. Its king-sized beds, panoramic windows, rooftop bar, and star-chef-designed menus will remind you once again that a "blackberry" is something you can eat! Itineraries range from 3-7 nights.

- LEAVE THE "TWEETS" TO THE BIRDS: Forty-five minutes down the Madre de Dios River from the closest town, Puerto Maldonado, Inkaterra Reserva Amazonica welcomes guests to the serenity only 29,652 acres of virgin Peruvian rainforest can offer. Accessible only by boat, the lodge's remote location breaks it free from wireless signals, facilitating guests' fingers to wrap around Pisco sours and binoculars instead of the latest social-media gadgets. "Tweets" take on a whole new meaning while mingling with birds atop Inkaterra's 1,136-foot-long Canopy Walk.
- SILENCE IN THE SIMILAN AND SURIN ISLANDS: Although most of Thailand is “connected,” there are still a few islands in the south where travelers can completely unwind and not hear the phone ring. Visitors can view such fabulous wildlife as 91 types of birds; 22 types of mammals, including 12 types of bats; six types of reptiles; and coral reefs filled with fabulous fish and sea turtles. Throw those cell phones and Blackberrys into the Andaman Sea and enjoy the pristine beaches, quiet coves, small guest houses and wonderful hospitality of the Thai people. Two of these special places are the Similan Islands and Mu Ko Surin National Park.
