- When is the best time to go- three websites help you determine when to book your reservation. Farecast .com predicts whether fares will rise or fall in the next week using data provided from airlines sites and online agencies. Set up an “alert” for the city you wish to travel to and the website will send you email updates on current airline fares. Kayak.com provides a similar service for hotel room rates. Their calendar based research tool allows you to view the lowest cost for a room each day for the next two months. Newcomer, Yapta.com has launched a rate-tracking tool so you can compare properties worldwide.
- Streamline your hotel search- Hotelicopter.com displays reviews and rates from over 30 travel sites and condenses them for you, all on one screen.
- Get reader feedback on properties- Long time favorite Tripadvisor.com keeps adding cities and properties all over the world. This is a comprehensive site with reviews from every day travelers. Travelpost.com helps you decide whether to stay or not by gathering more than 2 million reviews from 10 different websites, such as IgoUgo, Orbitz and Travelocity.
- Get a great deal- just launched, Cheapostay.com lists more than 85,000 properties up to 50% off. Search by name, city, airport or landmarks and land yourself a bargain. Veteran Hotels.com has added some extra value to their site. Every Tuesday at 12:01am they post up to 400 new packages. The caveat? They are only listed for 24 hours, so sign in early.
- Cruises are a bargain- the best deals are to be had 60 to 90 days before a departure, according to cruisecritic.com. Your travel agent is the most knowledgeable person to find the best rate and itinerary. Need help? Contact a CLIA-certified cruise specialist at cruising.org.
