Now that the garden is humming with activity; roses are still blooming, vegetable gardens are taking off with the warm temps, questions abound. You might see bugs that either make you shake your head or scream. Either way, you're not sure what it is or what to do about its voracious chewing. Or a plant is looking droopy or wilty or just generally unhealthy-but why?
The San Jose Master Gardener volunteers are manning the hotline ready to help you with your gardening questions.
Contact them by phone Monday - Friday 9:30 am -12: 30 pm at (408) 282-3105 or submit questions online. Their office is located at 1553 Berger Drive, San Jose. They ask that if you have samples of that sickly plant, bring it by only Monday through Wednesday.
They receive a variety of questions ranging from pest problems on citrus trees to what's ok to throw on the compost pile.
The Palo Alto gardening hotline is open on Fridays from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Contact them at (650) 329-1356, ext. 205. They are located in the house library at Gamble Gardens. The address is 1431 Waverly Street at Embarcadero in Palo Alto.
