Update: Denver Fashion Week
I am sad to announce that Denver fashion week has been postponed due to the economy and no sponsors signing on to back the show. This is a sad time in our economy and now we can see the effects of some things that would be great for our city.
Here is the official press release:
A letter from our director…
I first want to thank the people that have stuck by our side and continued to have faith and support in Denver’s Fashion Week. When I set out to create DFW, I had high hopes that it would set itself apart from the weekly fashion shows around Denver by presenting its events on a higher level of showmanship. Little did I know, it would be thrown some difficult curve balls.
Colorado and the overall economy has made it hard to recruit sponsors. It could be, because DFW is a brand new venture in a complex demographic or perhaps we planned for more than the economy could support. Either way the financial backing forDenver’s Fashion Week and its shows are insufficient. As the months grew closer to October 9th, the anticipated date of our show’s launch, we tried to redesign and reduce DFW’s budget without compromising its integrity. During this time we were getting a lot of questions from the press, designers and fans interested in any information concerning DFW. Since the details changed daily, we tried to keep our answers very broad and general. However, at this time, DFW and its contributors have decided to postpone the events until 2010. We are confident that we can come to a happy median that will fulfill the expectations of future DFW sponsors, staff and spectators.
The staff at DFW would like to gladly thank you for wanting to be part of our endeavor. Denver’s Fashion Week hopes that we will continue to be supported by the citizens of Colorado and those who believe in our event’s potential, as we work on smaller events like “Designer” or “Boutique” of the month. We are remorseful, if DFW hasn’t met your expected standard and we promise there will be an amazing showcase of regional fashion design in the near future.
Thanks again,
