Aziz Ansari is playing four shows at Comix this weekend. (From azizisbored.com)

I've been in a comic mood lately. The economy is in the toilet and everyone is getting laid off, but comedy makes it all better. Today I received a (mass) email from Aziz Ansari informing me that he will be doing a few shows in NYC this weekend. This was the highlight of my day, as I am a huge fan of Ansari.

He is originally from New York City, but is now living in LA to film a new show that is produced by the same people who made The Office. Amy Poehler and Office alum Rashida Jones will be starring alongside Ansari, and this combination sounds like it will comically blow your mind.

You may also know Aziz from the hit show Human Giant, a sketch comedy hit that also starred Rob Huebel and Paul Scheer. The hilarious show has too many amazing moments to put them all here, but check out this one which happens to be my favorite Aziz bit:

He has also guest starred on HBO's hit show Flight of the Conchords as a racist fruit vendor:

Think he's hilarious? Then buy tickets to his show at Comix on Friday January 9 and Saturday January 10. Both days have two show times -- the first at 8pm and the second at 10:30pm. Hannibal Burress will be opening for Aziz and the lovely Pete Holmes will be hosting. I'll be attending the 8pm Friday show, and check back the next day for my pictures and review!

For more info: Comix is located at 353 West !4th Street, just east of 9th ave. Buy tickets to Aziz Ansari's show here.
