Jerry Fuchs, drummer for the bands Maserati, Vineland, !!!, Turing Machine, and The Juan MacLean, died Sunday after falling down an elevator shaft in Williamsburg. This tragic accident occurred when Fuchs was at a benefit to raise money for women in India.

According to the Building Department spokesman, Jerry was in the elevator with a friend when it abruptly stopped on the fifth floor, causing the two to have to "jump down" to get off. The other man made the four-foot jump without any problem, but Fuchs got a piece of clothing caught on the elevator apparatus, “sending him swinging back into the crevice separating the elevator from the fifth floor.”

Jerry Fuchs was only 34 years old, and was quite an amazing drummer. He is survived by his parents, one brother, and two sisters. He will be missed.
