If you are a parent of small kids or just an early bird, you may be looking for activities that will allow you to celebrate Independence Day before night falls. Daytime activities may also suit you if you have plans for your evening but are looking for a fun way to fill up your afternoon.

Here is a list of several ways you can celebrate the 4th of July during the daytime:

Olde Fashioned 4th of July Celebration in Downtown Winter Park

Spend your morning in downtown Winter Park, enjoying wagon rides, live music, children’s games, and street vendors. This celebration takes place in Central Park from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. While you’re in Winter Park, enjoy free entry (until 4:00 p.m.) at the Morse Museum of Art.

Summer Music Series at Lakeridge Winery in Clermont

Spend the day at one of Central Florida’s best vineyards. Get a comprehensive tour of the facilities and free wine samples, and then enjoy the live band and food vendors outside. Lakeridge Winery offers these outdoor music venues on Saturdays from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., July 4th through August 1.

Independence Day Parade in Downtown Mt. Dora

Grab the kids (or parents) and enjoy an old-fashioned 4th of July in picturesque Mt. Dora. The parade is at 10:00 a.m and kicks off this local town’s day-long celebration. After the parade, grab lunch at a local café and do some shopping at the quaint stores that line the major streets downtown.

Patriotic Carillon Bell Concerts at Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales

If you haven’t visited the impressive gardens at Bok Tower Gardens, here is your chance. On July 4, the locally renowned carillon bell tower will “sing” a cadre of patriotic tunes at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and children 12+, $3 for children ages 5-12, and free for children under 5. To honor the military, free admission with proper ID is offered to active duty and retired personnel, as well as disabled veterans. Each military visitor is also allowed a 50% discount for up to three accompanying guests.

Red, White and ZOO at the Central Florida Zoo in Sanford

From 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 pm., the Central Florida Zoo is combining its 34th birthday celebration with a 4th of July celebration for the family. There will be live music, games, face painting, animal encounters, and more. You can also enjoy activities that offered every day at the zoo, such as the train around the zoo and the new ZOOm Air zipline adventure.
