As my readers know, I normally give a large range of events that span over a weeks worth of time to give you lots of options for things to do. This week is a little different. Sometimes I feel so passionate about an event that I feel the need to dedicate my writing to that - and in a sense, that is what happened this week.
The Fourth of July is on Saturday and as always there will be fireworks, picnics, music and of course - BEER!!!
You are going to drink this weekend - you know it and I know it, so I am going to ask you that when you do - drink for a good cause!
Downtown West Palm Beach will be hosting Fourth on Flagler again this year - an amazing event that features a huge fireworks display, activities for the entire family, lots of live music, food and yep - you guessed it - BEER.
But just like everything else in life - not all beer is the same. This year one beer truck is a little different. It is being hosted by the amazing women of The Connie Foundation.
The Connie Foundation is a breast cancer foundation that does not give the money to research but instead to the women (and men) who have been afflicted with breast cancer. They help underwrite medical bills, rent and mortgage payments and even food or household needs when they can. The foundation was started when Connie J. Goodale was diagnosed and she and her best girlfriends decided to change lives. Here is a link to learn more: http://www.conniefoundation.org/.
From 4-10 PM on July 4th these ladies and a slew of volunteers (myself included!) will be serving beer (and soda) off of Flagler near Trinity Park. Come say hi - get a beer, drop a tip in the jar (non-profits cannot collect the money for the beer, only the tips). I will be there from 4-7 PM pouring drinks and selling merchandise to benefit the foundation as well. Hope to see you out there! And P.S. - no excuses - the event is FREE.
I will also leave you with this: On Tuesday the date will be 7/7. An old legend tells of Altair (a Cowherd Star) and Vega (a Weaver Star) - two lovers who were separated by the Milky Way. Only once a year, on 7/7, they are allowed to meet in the sky again. The legend goes on to say that on that one day, if you write a wish on a piece of paper and bury it, your wish will come true.
Worth a try right!?!
