Tomorrow is Friday! I couldn’t be happier about it as I am exhausted and ready to get out of the cubicle and into a cute outfit and a cold drink.
There is a lot going on this weekend, but as always, I will leave the event listings to one of my wonderful counterparts at Metromix.com, zvents.com and more. Below you will find information on just a few of my favorite picks in the area for July 17-July 22, 2009.
Friday, July 17th is Boynton Beach’s TASTE OF BOYNTON event. Join restaurants like Benvenuto, Carolina Ale House, Ellie’s Diner, Lemon Grass, Ocean Ave. Green Market Café, Total Wine & more for food, drinks, live music and dancing. The price is $40 per person in advance at the Boynton Beach Chamber of Commerce online or $50 at the door. Call 561-732-9501. 21+ only.
Also on Friday night, if you feel like a laugh – Joe Rogan is making a special appearance at the Palm Beach Improv at 8PM. I have a kinda-crush on him after watching way too many episodes of Fear Factor on a Sunday Marathon but despite how good he is on TV, his true love in life apparently is stand-up comedy. $21.30 and 21+ to get in.
Up for something new? Try the Create Your Own Clam Bake Event in Jupiter at Cook’s Inc. Culinary Solutions Center, Saturday, July 18 at 5:30 PM. This interactive dinner format is a wonderful and engaging event to teach you the proper cooking techniques for: Char-grilled clams, chorizo, corn on the cob, chicken, Maryland style crab cakes, spicy remoulade, warm apple-blueberry cobbler and even a caramel sauce! I’m hungry already! Just $29 to reserve your spot!
Sometimes you just have to dance. Once you have kids though, it makes it harder and harder to get out to the clubs on the weekend. Well, not this weekend! Baby Loves Disco is an amazing concept where moms, dads and their babies can rock the night away together. Revolution Live in Fort Lauderdale is holding this hip event with a DJ and MC keeping the party going, hula hoops, egg shakers, scarves and more make for fun and oh – did I mention bubbles? Lots and lots of bubbles, plus face painting, dance contests, diaper changing stations and even stroller parking. The NEW Mommy/Daddy Lounge will keep the grown-ups happy too.   Saturday, July 18 1 PM – 4 PM.
Feeling sporty? There is a Coed 3 person Grass Volleyball Tournament this weekend for AA, A and B Divisions. $25 gets you entered into the contest, lunch, water, prizes and lots of free stuff from the sponsors. All proceeds benefit the Make A Wish Foundation and the Supernova Program. For details and to sign up call Sandi Barnes: 228-238-3048.
Tough times call for creative solutions and the South Florida Fairgrounds is holding the first annual Kids Consignment Event from July 23-26th, 9 AM – 7 PM. Everything there is for the kids – clothing, books, furniture, strollers, and tons of back-to-school items. 30,000 sq. ft. of new and like-new items. LOW prices, FREE admission and FREE parking!
