The Belle Glade Branch Library - 530 S. Main St., Belle Glade - is starting off the year with fun (and educational!) events for kids. At 10:30 a.m. you can cuddle in the story time zone during Family Story Time where the library's melodious storyteller will enchant and delight. Go for lunch and head back for Arts & Crafts for kids from 2-2:45 p.m. A variety of fun and interesting crafts will be available to inspire your children to create something special. Open to all ages, both events are FREE.
Hear some beautiful music tonight when the Sung Trio plays tonight at the Kravis Center - 701 Okeechobee Blvd., West Palm Beach. Hugh Sung is an internationally renown soloist and recitalist who has played at some of the world's most prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall, Weill Hall, Wigmore Hall and the National Gallery of Art. Accordionist Lidia Kaminska is the winner of the Astral Artists' 2007 National Auditions and is a virtuoso on her instrument. Doug O'Connor recently won Second Prize at the Second International Jean-Marie Londeix Saxophone Competition in Bangkok earning him concert engagements with the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra. The trio will be playing together in concert tonight at 7:30 p.m. These young and talented musicians will only be playing in the area for one night and I promise it is totally worth the $30 ticket price. This is NOT a boring night of music - they breathe life and vibrancy into the classic pieces they play like you have never heard before. www.kravis.org.
This is also the last week to see The Panoramic Eye of Joseph Meehan at the Palm Beach Photographic Centre - 55 NE 2nd Ave., Delray Beach. Meehan demonstrates the range of modern panoramic photography in dramatic landscapes, portraits and other subjects. The pieces are huge and amazing and photos online just don't do them justice. www.fotofusion.org.
This week is exciting for me - I get to tell you about a new nightclub in West Palm, a new event for kids, a perfect girls' night out and my new favorite date night event! Be sure you check back so you aren't left asking "what should we do today?"
