Did anyone else have a hard time getting back into the work week yesterday? I know I did, but the best way to get through the day is to have an event to look forward to! Here are some great events to get you through the day:

Take the kids out for a fun and educational experience at the Rocks & Minerals Nature Series at the Daggerwing Nature Center - 11200 Park Access Rd., Boca Raton.  Children ages 3-6 can participate in activities with puppets, games, nature walks, crafts and more at 2:30 p.m.  $4 per child and reservations are required, call 561-629-8760.

Shop for the holidays at the 6th Annual Holiday Trunk Show - Seagate Residences, 400 S. Ocean Blvd., Delray Beach. Proceeds benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County.  Vendors will be displaying everything from silk jackets and jewelry to original artwork.  Call 561-683-3287 for details.

Tired of shopping and want to do something special for yourself (while still doing something good for someone else)? Come to the Holiday Cheers Beauty Event at the Viseo Lasik Medspa - 2515 State Rd. 7, Suite 210, Wellington.  10% of all sales will be donated to a Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind, Inc.  Complimentary chair massages and a gift bag will be given to every attendee.  Appetizers, mimosas and cosmos will be served throughout the day.  RSVP to 561-795-4772 or email tknorr@visolasikmedspas.com.  Spaces are limited.

Relax at the seminar "Real Peace, Real Balance, Real Bliss - Sahaja Yoga Meditation" as part of the Delray Beach Library's Healthy Living Series. 6:30 p.m. 100 W. Atlantic Ave., Delray Beach. 561-266-9490. FREE.

The Worth Avenue Promenade and Town of Palm Beach Tree Lighting Ceremony is this evening.  Stores will feature extended hours and free refreshments and the Avenue will house a stunning array of decorations and holiday themed activities.  Santa and an entourage of local VIPs will light the tree and the Santa will be available for visits and surprises.  FREE.  561-659-6909 for more information.  Worth Avenue, Palm Beach.

So, full disclosure- I went to middle & high school in Coral Springs with some of the members from New Found Glory, so I have a bit of a soft spot in my heart for the band Shai Hulud which was founded back then with Chad Gilbert (of New Found Glory) on vocals and Matt Fox and Oliver Chapoy (Ex-Uncle Sam's Record employees).  I'm not much into heavy metal and this band is definitely hardcore but I have listened to them for so long I can't stop now! Matt Fox is still touring as the head of Shai Hulud and the band changes constantly - he once pulled a singer out of an audience mosh pit in Holland and kept him in the band for three years. Catch them back in the local area at Backbone Music - 61 SE 4th Ave., Delray Beach.  www.backbonemusicinc.com.

Tonight is Open-mic night at Kevro's Art Bar.  Come see acts ranging from dancers to poets to magicians and more! Signup is at 7:30 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m. 166 SE 2nd Ave., Delray Beach.

Coffee District is an artsy cafe that attracts the downtowners and the hippies alike.  The coffee is delicious, you can order quirky and unique wine and over 80 microbrews.  There is nightly event or performance art and tonight is a meeting of South Florida's biggest gay networking group, Venture Out.  From 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. there will be a DJ's, drinks, modern art and a good time had by all.  561-455-0541.

Sleuth is Anthony Shaffer's Tony award-winning action packed whodunit as two men engage in a battle of wits and imagination over the love of one woman.  This murder mystery promises nail-biting anticipation and twists enough to baffle even the most proficient sleuth.  The show begins tonight at 7:30 p.m. and runs through the 14th.  $35 - $55. Call 800-445-1666 for information on tickets and times.  Maltz Jupiter Theatre - 1001 E. Indiantown Rd., Jupiter.

This is the craziest event I have heard of in a long time and if I had a spare $500 laying around I would be the first person in line - so, if anyone is treating...I am talking about Dinner in the Sky Events.  22 diners will sit in leather chairs at a dining table on a platform and buckle their seat belts - the entire platform is then lifted by a crane 18 stories high.  Executive Chef Francois Ternes of Seminole Casino Coconut Creek's Fresh Harvest restaurant and four staffers will then feed the high-fliers a full-gourmet meal featuring Wagyu and other delectable treats.  Stay home if you have motion sickness or a fear of heights - oh and pee before you go, they have to lower the entire platform if you have to use the bathroom.  Have a strong stomach and some extra money? Visit Seminole Casino Coconut Creek - 5550 NW 40th St., Coconut Creek for a 6:30 or 8:30 dinner.  Purchase tickets from the casino cashier.  954-977-6700.
