The next few weeks are going to be filled with incredible Halloween themed events all throughout Palm Beach County.  With so much to do it could get overwhelming, but Halloween is my favorite holiday and I am here to make sure you don't miss a thing.

Below is a day-by-day compilation of some of the spookiest, creepiest and most terrifying events around this month for the whole family.  Be sure to also check my weekly column for updates and events that didn't make this list. 

October 9 - Nov. 1

Probably one of the most popular S. Florida events, Fright Nights at the South Florida Fairgrounds - 9067 Southern Blvd., West Palm Beach - is a horror movie come to life. Fright Nights is only open October 9-11, 16-18, 23-26, 30-Nov.1.  A cast of over 80 actors fill five of the scariest haunted houses you will ever walk through. Outside of the houses enjoy performers, games, rides, food and more. Weeknights 6-11 p.m.; Weekends 6 p.m. - 12 a.m.  Wristbands at $20 in advance and $25 at the gate. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the gate.
 

October 18 & 19

The Museum on Ocean Avenue - 129 E. Ocean Avenue, Boynton Beach - will transform into an old-fashioned carnival with music, crafts, games, face painting, ponies, concessions and baked goods.  The Ocean Avenue Green Market will be on-site with a pumpkin patch and each evening will feature live dance performances by members of Hip-notic Dance Company. Each day from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.

October 19

The Mounts Botanical Garden - 559 N. Military Trail, West Palm Beach - is holding the Fall Halloween Family Festival from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. The event features games, hands-on activities, music, refreshments and prizes for all.  Favorite activities include pony rides, face painting, seedling giveaways, rock climbing wall and more.  Some activities are free and others are a small charge but all are lots of fun!

October 23 - 26

Boca Raton is holding Shriek Week at 300 S. Military Trail, Boca Raton.  Walk down the haunted trail of terror to Crooked Creek where the Curse of Crooked Creek brings demon gunfights to enslave children and keep them searching for gold forever. Scary surprises lurk at every turn.  Stop by the Roundup for family friendly outdoor activities including arts & crafts, games, photos, concessions and more.  Thursday & Friday 6 - 9:30 p.m.; Saturday 4 - 9:30 p.m. and Sunday noon - 5 p.m.  Call 561 - 347 - 3901 for more details.

Also part of Shriek Week is the incredible Ghoulish Comedy Magic and Frightful Illusion Show.  Master illusionist Gery Goodman and his assistant perform magic and illusions set to spooky music and special effects.  Audience members may be called on to make the magic happen.  This annual tradition takes place at the Willow Theater at Sugar Sand Park on Oct 24 at 6 p.m., Oct. 25 at 3 p.m. and Oct. 26 at 11 a.m.  Adults $9; children $7.

October 24 & 25

The Busch Wildlife Sanctuary is holding an Enchanted Halloween Nightwalk on October 24th at 6 p.m.  Bring your little ones in costume and they will enjoy a wildlife program with mythical looking animals and a tour of the nature trail filled with magical surprises.  Finish off the night with S'mores around the campfire. 
Older children (10 and up) will enjoy the Horrific Halloween Nightwalk on October 25th at 7 p.m.  Hike on the trail of doom, see some of the scariest night lurking creatures and if you make it out - enjoy s'mores and tails around the campfire.  Both events are only $5 per person but space is limited so make reservations soon! October 24- 26

Prepare yourself for one of the scariest haunted houses in the area as Hugs Not Drugs presents the 6th Annual Haunted Halls of Horror.  This 25 minute interactive, walk-through experience is unlike any other.  Suitable for all ages but those easily frightened should wait in the "Chicken Coop." Tickets are $10 at the door but you can visit www.hugsnotdrugs.com for a $2 off coupon.  The Halls of Horror are located at the YMCA - 2085 S. Congress Avenue, Palm Springs.  All three days from 7 - 11 p.m.

October 25

One of the biggest Halloween events in all of South Florida is Moonfest on Clematis Street, West Palm Beach.  This annual party is where I like to spend my Halloween.  Featuring alternative music, unbelievable costumes and tens of thousands of people packed into downtown West Palm Beach.  Festivities include a huge costume contest (from the freaky to the frightening and everything in between), games, horror flicks projected onto walls, street performers, a haunted house, DJ, live music and more.  The event is FREE but VIP tix are $40.  Party the night away from 4 p.m. - 1 a.m.

Downtown Delray is hosting a Halloween Parade and Downtown Trick-or-Treating on E. Atlantic Blvd. from 1-4 p.m.  Call 561-276-6537 for details.

The 13th annual Boo At The Zoo is taking place at the Palm Beach Zoo - 1301 Summit Blvd., West Palm Beach.  This family friendly event offers trick-or-treating among 1,500 animals with non-stop animal encounters and wildlife shows, costume contests for all ages, "scary" entertainment and performances and the largest haunted house in "Boo at the Zoo" history.  9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Celebrate at the Harvest Hayride and Fall Festival at the Burns Road Recreation Center - 4404 Burns Road, Palm Beach Gardens from 5-7 p.m.  Take an old-fashioned hayride, paint a pumpkin, visit trick-or-treat street, enjoy music, games and more.  

The Sandoway House Nature Center-  142 S. Ocean Blvd., Delray Beach - is holding their annual Not So Scary Halloween Party.  Visit the Nature Center for trick-or-treating and Halloween creature crafts.  Discover creepy crawlies up close as you tour the center's haunted house.  10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

October 25 & 26

Enjoy Spookyville, a family-friendly, old-fashioned Halloween event with trick-or-treating in the historic village, costume parades and contests, magic shows and more.  10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the South Florida Fairgrounds - 9607 Southern Blvd., West Palm Beach

October 26

 Presented by the Youth Orchestra of Palm Beach County, the Ghouls and Goblins Concert is a wonderful and FREE way to spend your evening.  The concert begins at 6 p.m. at Old School Square - 51 N. Swinton Avenue, Delray Beach.

October 28

The Resort Nightclub Palm Beach - 700 Rosemary Ave. at City Place, West Palm Beach - is holding Hallowscream 3 featuring a live performance of the Rocky Horror Picture Show.  For table reservations and guest lists call Jean Mark at 561-315-0333.  Private parties contact Josh Sagman at josh@resortlounge.com

October 30

Clematis By Fright is the place to be from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. when Clematis street at Centennial Square becomes the hottest spot in S. Florida for chills and thrills.  Tons of FREE family fun including costume contests, free candy, live music and move.  Wild 95.5 will present rising pop star Shontelle performing her hit single "T-shirt." 

If you haven't already gotten out to some of the events above - this is the time to do it!  Haunted Houses are always creepiest on Halloween.  Still looking for something to do? Read on....

October 31

The Palm Beach Princess Boo Cruise is fast becoming a local favorite. Hop on board at One East 11th St., Riviera Beach and enjoy witches brew, spooky cocktails and a monster-size buffet.  Gamble, dance, enjoy Halloween themed shows and have your photo taken amid the ghostly display.  Visit www.palmbeachprincess.com for details. 

City Limits - 19 NE 3rd Ave., Delray Beach - welcomes Screaming Jerry Leeman and his "Night of the Living Freaks." Featuring the horror flick Killer Deal and the music of Black Fingers (doing their Day of the Dead set), Dj Matt Spector, and the Beat Bombers (with belly dancers) - this is an event not to miss. And be sure to dress up - there is a $1000 costume contest! Call 561-279-8222 for details. 

If you are in Delray, be sure to swing by the Fright Night Flicks and Costume Party at Old School Square - 51 N. Swinton Ave., Delray Beach.  The costume party begins at 5:30 p.m. Join in the fun and win prizes! Stay for the movie which begins at 7:30 p.m.

The South Shore Tavern and Patio Bar - 502 Lucerne Ave., Lake Worth - will be keeping it scary with their Once Known Souls event.  Enter their costume contest for prizes and ghoulishly good drink specials.
 

Library Events

October 10: Scarecrows - Build a scarecrow to display in the children's area and then create a scarecrow face to take home.  Ages 4 - 7 can enjoy this event at 3 p.m. at the Wellington Branch Library - 1951 Royal Fern Drive, West Palm Beach.  Registration required: 561 - 791 -6070

October 11: Pumpkin Fun - How many seeds are in a pumpkin? Find out by cutting one open and counting them, then read a book and do a surprising pumpkin activity.  Dress to get messy! For ages 6 - 10 at the West Boynton Branch Library - 9451 Jog Road, Boynton Beach.  Register at 561-734-5556

October 16: Scary Stories & Crafts - Enjoy stories, crafts and short films suitable for all ages at the Southwest County Regional Library - 20701 95th Avenue S., Boca Raton. Reservations required: 561-482 - 4554

October 27

Halloween Spooktacular Staff Show - Puppet shows, songs, jokes and surprises as well as a costume parade you can join. The fun starts at 7 p.m. at the Downtown Library - 200 NW Boca Raton Blvd., Boca Raton. 561-393-7968.

Halloween Make & Take Craft - Make a scary mask, perfect for trick or treating! Ages 8 and older at the Hagan Ranch Road Branch Library - 14350 Hagen Ranch Road, Delray Beach at 2 p.m.

October 29

Halloween Spooktacular Staff Show - Puppet shows, songs, jokes and surprises as well as a costume parade you can join. The fun starts at 3:30 p.m. at the Spanish River Library and Community Center - 1501 NW Spanish River Blvd., Boca Raton. 561 - 544 - 8584.          

Monster Mania - Read about scary, silly and funny monsters and then create one to take home. For ages 4 - 8 at the Wellington Branch Library - 1951 Royal Fern Dr., West Palm Beach.

October 31

Trick-or-Treat At Your Library - Enjoy candy, stories and special prizes.  Costumes are optional.  All ages welcome at the Greenacres Branch Library - 3750 Jog Rd., Lake Worth.  10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Science Club / Halloween Science - Make fake blood and write ghost letters in honor of Halloween.  For ages 7 and older at the Wellington Branch Library - 1951 Royal Fern Dr., West Palm Beach.

Swing on into any one of the many nightclubs in the area and you are sure to find some crazy costumes and even crazier crowds.  Last year I heard good reports from Mr. G's Rock 'n' Roll Bar, Club 10 at the West Palm Beach Hilton, The Players Club in Wellington and Sushi Jo in PGA.
