If you thought your days of indulging in Grandma's famous recipes were over - think again! With a few basic ingredients you can recreate the same delicious recipes but with less calories, fat, and sugar!
Lifetime's new series, "Cook Yourself Thin," shows viewers how to develop the skills and confidence to makeover their favorite recipes. The series is based on the popular British series and cookbook "Cook Yourself Thin." The show's culinary experts Harry Eastwood, Allison Fishman, and Candice Kumai suggest replacing extreme dieting with clever cooking; replacing just a few ingredients with healthier alternatives. Each half-hour episode follows one guest as she learns simple ways to transform her favorite high-calorie meals into delicious, healthier fare. The meals are prepared step-by-step, comparing the calorie count of the original version to that of the "Cook Yourself Thin" recipe. The guest returns home with the tools and tips necessary to practice what's she learned in her own kitchen then receives a visit by the hosts to check her progress six weeks later.
The show's companion cookbook and #1 New York Times best seller "Cook Yourself Thin: Skinny Meals You Can Make in Minutes" has mouth-watering recipes like: Stuffed French Toast Sundaes, Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins, Ultimate Sausage Cheese Pizza, Oven-Baked Crispy Chicken, and even Carrot Cake!
You can order the book on the Cook Yourself Thin website. While you're there, check out past episodes, view recipes, and play games that test your knowledge about food and nutrition. The show airs on Lifetime at 8:00 a.m. ET/PT so don't forget to set your Tivo. Enjoy!
