After nearly a year of campaigning, talk show host Ellen DeGeneres will grace the December (09) cover of O magazine with media mogul Oprah Winfrey.
Ellen's honor is quite an accomplishment considering Oprah has only shared the cover with one other woman, first lady Michelle Obama, in the magazine's nine year existance.
If you watch The Ellen DeGeneres Show then you know the dancing diva shared her desire to be on the magazine cover regularly. Ellen went as far as photoshopping her picture onto preexisting O covers, creating an Oprah-style "O Yes I Can" vision board and dressing up on Halloween as an O cover with a cutout for her face.
Her persistence paid off.
DeGeneres actually received the good news back in March (09) when Oprah appeared on her show via Skype. Unfortunately, she wasn't told when she'd appear on the coveted magazine cover so Ellen continued with her campaigning.
"When I first heard about this," Oprah said, "I thought it was such a fantastic idea. I was only sorry that I did not think of it myself. So I am calling to officially invite you on the cover of O."
"Are you serious?!" Ellen said just before jumping up to kiss the camera.
Oprah said, "I'm serious about this! In order to set a goal for yourself, a goal has to be something that's really big. I've watched the whole thing, and I believe that when you dream it and conceive it, you can have it and achieve it. And that's what's gonna happen."
Ellen then vowed to make the issue the most successful of all O issues to date. In keeping with her end of the bargain, last week Ellen debutetd the cover on her show the same day she appeared with Oprah in Chicago to sign 1,000 issues for fans. (See video below)
To further promote the December issue of O, Ellen and her wife Portia de Rossi will appear on the Oprah Winfrey Show on Monday, November 9.
Congratulations to Ellen! (Note to self: Get started on a new vision board asap!)
