It is finally here. The last day for "Radio God" Mike O'Meara on WJFK.
Today at 3PM, Mike said goodbye to his listeners for about 20 minutes and ended -- very appropriately -- with the song below.
Mike introduced his farewell announcing the message had been prerecorded before the team left for vacation on Thursday, July 2nd. As he said he did not want to "preside over his own funeral" and chose not to perform a live show.
From his goodbye recording:
We are done at WJFK. It has been a nice little run for us...
We really felt we were hitting our stride...
Unfortunately in my over 20-year career in radio, this has never happened before.
... As best I can tell you, we are going to be working behind-the-scenes to find a new home for the Mike O'Meara Show...
It is very very frustrating and because of that we are all going to take a breather and reevaluate.
...I move forward and I really do believe that things do happen for a reason.
His message was classy and considerate. You can listen to it at WJFK.com under the podcast title: "07-17-09 Seg 01-Best Of-So Long".
You can keep up with where they will land on Facebook or here.
