Will she stick around?

Is this Paula Abdul's last season of judging on reality ratings powerhouse "American Idol"?

Based on comments she's been making in the media recently, it could be so.

Abdul's been through the ringer recently.  First, there was news that "Idol" producers had brought on a new judge...  another female Kara Dioguardi.  Instantly, conversation turned to whether or not Abdul would be gone.  Turns out, the two are old friends and pop music collaborators.

Then, there was the tragic news that an obsessed fan allegedly committed suicide in front of Abdul's LA home.  Abdul is so traumatized by the event that she hasn't slept in her home since and will sell the residence soon.

But, those are only the stories we've heard.  Throughout all of these dramatics there has been an underlying current that has left us wondering, what is going on behind the scenes at "AI"?

We're getting more insight into the backstage drama as Abdul makes the rounds on daytime talk shows promoting the new season of "Idol" and myriads of side projects (including QVC, an MTV reality competition show and being a spokesperson for the American Humane Association).

Yesterday on "The View", Abdul told the ladies that Paula Goodspeed (the obsessed fan) stalked her for 17 years prior to her death.  Abdul says "AI" producers did not tell her Goodspeed was auditioning for "Idol" until the moment was upon her and she regrets being a part of her audition process.  She also says that Simon Cowell's cruelness while judging Goodspeed didn't help.  Abdul told "Good Morning America":  "It's the typical brother thing that we have. He would say, 'The uncanny resemblance between the two of you,' and just egg it on and egg it on. But what people don't realize, this was a serious, serious situation."

Speaking about Dioguardi's hire, Abdul says Simon Cowell's plan backfired (because the two are friends with a history).

Last night, Abdul stopped by Barbara Walters' Sirius XM radio show.  She targeted "AI" producers once more for the debacle of having Goodspeed audition, despite knowing she had allegedly stalked Abdul for 17 years.  When Walters pushed her on the issue of why she is still with "Idol", Abdul responded "Well, I'm under contract."

To me, this smacks of the Rosie-leaving-"The View" drama.  When a star starts talking about co-stars and producers so openly...  something is going to happen.  I suspect Abdul might be in for her last season of singers.
