
Just a couple of months into the new season, Fox execs have already announced this season will be the last for "Mad TV".
The not-quite-live sketch comedy show is probably best known for launching the television careers of comedians Frank Caliendo and Howard Stern sidekick Artie Lange.
The one-hour weekly show, which airs opposite of "Saturday Night Live", has been on the air since 1995 and is one of Fox network's longest-running shows.
In recent years, "MadTV" has been running in syndication on Comedy Central and show producers say they will approach cable outlets to continue the franchise.
This season, the Emmy-winning "MadTV" has averaged a 1.1 rating with 2.6 million viewers each week. That represents a 6% drop from last year's stats.
As we told you, "SNL" has been putting up fierce numbers this season for late night programming. Buoyed by their political satire and A-list guest hosts and stars, Lorne Michaels' comedy show has been hard to challenge.
