Rumors are swirling that the three-time WNBA champion Detroit Shock will be purchased by a Tulsa-based group and moved to Oklahoma for the next season.
The group of investors, called Tulsa Pro Hoops LLC, will reportedly formally apply to the WNBA for a franchise. It's assumed that the group, if approved, will then purchase an existing team. The group has already hired Nolan Richardson, a former college coach at the universities of Tulsa and Arkansas, to be the new WNBA team's coach and general manager.
There is no official word on whether Tulsa's application will be approved by the league and, if it is approved, which current team would be purchased and moved to Tulsa.
