June is the month we honor our Fathers. I am very grateful for having a wonderful Dad. Some may say that I am Daddy’s little girl. Even at this age, I am strongly connected to my father. He is now over 95 years on this planet and currently beginning to prepare to leave here. This is a very sad time for me while nostalgic and full of love.
I have learned many things from my father. It was my Dad who taught me to drive, who taught me how to run a business, who taught me that it takes all kinds of people to make the world go round, who taught me about generosity and much more.
Take notice that all these things are masculine. The masculine is the doing, business making, giving and active principle. As I have shared with you before, the feminine is the receptive, passive principle. We all have both the masculine and feminine energies within us regardless of our gender. The goal is a Divine balance of the masculine and the feminine within. It is to our fathers or our masculine role models that we look to in gratitude for assisting us in developing this aspect within ourselves.
In some indigenous Native American tribes, Medicine Wheel is a set of teachings, a ceremony as well as a place to go for prayer, meditation and insight. Most authentic indigenous Medicine Wheels are permanent and located at Sacred Sites. I also build the wheel from time to time with the river rocks. The set of rocks I use were painted by Victoria Rose Martin over a decade ago. The art on each rock portray the positions and the meaning of that stone. Each stone tells a story and the art triggers my memory to tell the story associated with that stone. These Medicine Wheel Rocks are located in the Angel Room at The Crystal Garden.
In the Medicine Wheel, the Father Sun stone, which is in the center circle of the Wheel, teaches us about the core masculine energy and about the active principle of the universe. The Father Sun position in the Wheel teaches that you can learn to accomplish anything and find the courage to do so. It also teaches about discernment and the healthy ability to set limits, to say no when that is what you want to say. This is particularly helpful for those of us who consistently give too much.
Contemplate on balancing the masculine and feminine energies as a spiritual practice and observe the positive changes in your life. Decide how you can bring your masculine energy into balance in your life. Honor the masculine within and around you. Remember those who have filled the position of father in your life and pause for a moment of gratitude.
