According to the Wall Street Journal, President Medvedev has established a special commission to "counter aggressive attempts to rewrite history to Russia's disadvantage."

Well it's about time. First of all they can start with Stalin. I mean if anyone needs a makeover it has to be Uncle Joe. Imagine all those people trying to make Stalin out to be this homicidal despot who was responsible for killing 20 million Russians when everyone knows, that Uncle Joe was just a creampuff. He didn't kill anyone. He had people and sometimes, there are a few bad apples who ruin it for everyone.

What's next? I suppose they'll try and blame the massacre of Polish officers in the Katyn forest on the Russian NKVD. Everyone knows that the Poles all killed themselves when they realized that the war was over for them. They just couldn't take it so they did the right thing. The Russians just got there too late to stop it.

And that whole occupation of the Baltic States thing. Come on, everyone knows that the Russians got a call from a whole bunch of Estonians, Latvians and Lithuanians who were tired of where they were living and wanted a change of scenery. And so, they demanded that the Russians take them to Siberia for an extended vacation. The Russians were just helping.

And the Hungarians wanted the Soviets to park their tanks in Budapest.

And that Wall? You know the one in Berlin? Hey, they couldn't accommodate all the people form the west who wanted to live in the workers' paradise and so, as unpopular as it was, they had to put up a wall to protect the good life. No hard feelings eh?

Yes sir, these folks have their work cut out for them. Luckily though, they got the best and the brightest on the history commission. Senior military, government and intelligence officials. People who have no bias.

Well…good luck guys, and remember…. war is peace, freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength.

Somewhere George Orwell is smiling.
