Let’s celebrate the creation of Play-Doh, one of the building blocks of our childhood imagination. The Play-Doh Fun Factory was introduced in 1960, just in time for all the baby boomers. Some estimates state at one point over a third of United States children had played with the Play-Doh Fun Factory. Now, 50 years later, Hasbro’s Play-Doh line has an amazing selection of fun and creative products.
Want to know what sparked the original idea of Play-Doh?
Play-Doh was originally wallpaper cleaner made by Kutol, a Cincinnati-based soap company. Kay Zufall, sister-in-law of one of the owners, ran a nursery school and read an article on inexpensive ways to make Christmas ornaments. One recommendation was to use wallpaper cleaner. She immediately set to work with her nursery school children and decorated their tree with the wallpaper cleaner ornaments. Her eureka moment was when she realized that the wallpaper cleaner could be made into a toy and Kutol’s owners agreed.

Ready Go Play-Doh Contest
Make your own Play-Doh version of some kind of food. How cool is that? Enter Ready Go PlayDoh by Sept. 30 and you could win a $5,000 playroom makeover and a $5,000 school Doh-nation. Online entrants must be parents over the age of 18 who have a child ages 10 or younger.
Play-Doh for the classroom
Play-Doh was first introduced in 1955 when the Cincinnati Board of Education gave approval for one-gallon containers of red, blue, and yellow Play-Doh as an educational tool in their elementary schools.

Fundraising with Play-Doh
Play-A-Thon is a fundraising concept to empower children by offering them a chance to raise money for a charity of their choice by doing what they do best... and have fun doing it! Play-A-Thon is similar to a walk-a-thon, children gather sponsors for every hour they play with any toy, game or participate in any activity.
