Apocalyptic dreams are the types of dreams that involve cosmic or universal catastrophes. These dreams tend to center around feelings of anxiety, where the dreamer experiences the end of the world, the sea engulfing the earth, car crashes, or sinking ships.

Today’s dreamer, Serg, shares his most recent catastrophe dream. Here’s an excerpt.

The Dream of An Abandoned Earth

I wake up to the sound of crushing metal. I jump out of bed and run to the front door where I see dozens of cars piled on top of each other. As I get closer to the street, I notice that there are dead animals everywhere There’s a cow on its side, its eyes are open and a small child is standing beside it. I can hear people screaming in the distance, but I don’t see anyone.

Dream Interpretation

In this dreamer’s account the only other person in the dream is a child, or a part of the dreamer's Self left behind during a time of crisis. This denotes a deep anxiety about abandonment when he can hear, but cannot see those around him. The dreamer may also be experiencing a kind of emotional impotence, that many of us can relate to, where we feel we have broken down after allowing so much emotional turmoil to pile up. Sometimes these dreams can indicate potential health problems or a preceding state of depression so it's important to carefully analyze the dream content.
