An email to your Congressman may not go through in light of the recent controversy over the failed Wall Street bailout bill.
The Hill.com, a political website that covers Congress, reported today that the U.S. House of Representatives has taken to limiting emails in light of the ongoing financial crisis.
Constituents who use the Congressional website to email the representatives will likely get a message telling them to try back later.
The Chief Administrative Office (CAO), which oversees the upkeep of the House website and member email services, decided to restrict email after an onslaught of messages nearly overwhelmed the government servers.
"This measure has become temporarily necessary to ensure that Congressional websites are not completely disabled by the millions of emails flowing into the system," the CAO said in a letter.
Fortunately, phones lines are still open. Those wishing to contact their representative should look here for their Washington telephone number.
