A sad farewell to the little Mermaid girl, Shiloh Pipen

Wrapped in a beautiful butterfly blanket she’d received as a gift from a woman in California, Shiloh Pipen was buried today in Pine Grove Cemetery in West Kennebunk, Maine . She will find her resting place, next to the stillborn sister she never got the chance to know.
The little girl that was full of life and spunk brought hundreds of people together at St.Davids Episcopal Church today. But Shiloh’s mother Leslie, wants to make sure that people through out the world remember her daughter for how she chose to live, not for how she died.
"She did everything with a zest for life," Leslie Pepin said Sunday through her tears. After being in the hospital for a week, her mother Leslie told SeaCoast online that Shiloh made up her own mind that it was time to go after a second bout with infection ravaged her body late in the week. She further added “She had gotten septic again and she just couldn’t do it anymore,” she said. Shiloh’s Dr. Matt Hand, director of pediatric nephrology at Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital at Maine Medical Center informed Leslie and Elmer that the time was near. There was no choice to be made, Shiloh died on Friday Nov. 23.
Leslie also recalls that her daughter “didn’t want us to get divorced, but she knew we were both moving on, that we had people who loved us and we wouldn’t be alone,” she said. “She told me it was OK to fall in love again. She was my old soul. I don’t know why she chose me for her mother, but I’m ever going to be thankful for that.”
