Earlier today the Producers Guild announced their nominations, and the big surprise was that there were no surprises. The five Best Picture frontrunners solidified their standing, none of the upset contenders broke through, and Wall-E remained banished to the Animated category.

Keep in mind that in each of the last four years, the PGA nominees matched the Oscar Best Picture nominees in four of the five slots. Last year, for instance, the PGA nominated Juno, Michael Clayton, No Country for Old Men, There Will Be Blood and The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, with only the latter failing to score an Oscar nod (the Academy opted for Atonement instead)

And the 2008 Producers Guild nominees are:

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
The Dark Knight
Frost/Nixon
Milk
Slumdog Millionaire

Animated:
Bolt
Kung-Fu Panda
Wall-E

Documentary:
Man on Wire
Standard Operating Procedure
Trouble the Water
