Artest's unique negotiating tactics.

The always-controversial forward Ron Artest has reportedly reached a verbal agreement with the Los Angeles Lakers. The deal is believed to be three years for $18 million.

The news comes just a day after the Lakers announced that they would only offer free agent Trevor Ariza the mid-level exception, which caused him to look for other offers.

It makes you think that the Lakers have had Artest in mind for a long time, and looked at Ariza as a second option.

Artest sent a text message to ESPN.com saying:

I am happy to say I am goin' to L.A.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that these won't be the last words we hear from Artest in Los Angeles.
