Just days after he was accused of lying about having AIDS, Magic Johnson is making headlines for a much more pleasant reason.
After seven years of working with TNT, Magic will take his analytical skills to ABC/ESPN. He'll make his ESPN debut on Christmas Day, and will work regular season games on ABC.
I'm glad to see Magic getting some network airtime. Apparently the stink left by his deservedly short-lived late-night talk show, The Magic Hour, has died down after 10 years.
The show only ran for a frustrating two months, but from what I recall Magic wasn't the best interviewer in the world. Instead of asking questions he would just throw out declarative statements like, "So, you were in a movie." Well, here's some old footage of the show so you can judge for yourself:
If i'm not mistaken that's the Del Taco Guy doing the intro. Way to bring out the big guns.
