This year Omega is focusing on what they do best - classic looking functional watches that compete head-on wiith Rolex. The Seamaster Aqua Terra is a perfect timepiece for the guy who wants a good quality, good looking watch, but is still conservative about the looks and wants a name brand. This new Seamaster Aqua Terra Co-Axial Chronograph comes in no less than four versions with two dial colors and metal bracelet or alligator strap available. You can the watch in 18k white or rose gold, two tone (as shown) in steel and rose gold, as well as an all steel version. Regardless, each model has 18k gold hour markers and dials. The movement is a highly regard Omega automatic chronograph movement with the Co-Axial escapement and is Chronometer certified - so you know it is quite accurate for a mechanical watch. This model for 2009 features the "Teak" style dial that is also seen on the very similar Seamaster Aqua Terra GMT Chronograph that adds a 24 hour hands (and differnet bezel to the design). This is a more classy watch than the GMT, and is suitable for today's size standard being 44mm wide. Omega chooses to never focus on style over substance. The chronograph subdials on the face of the watch are easy to read, but the pushers on the side of the case (done in gold) are broad and easy to use. While a polished finish is applied to the smooth bezel and parts of the case - the watch is less than "blingy" having a more sober brushed finish on much of the surfaces as well as the metal bracelet (which you should opt for over the alligator strap if possible). Look for this new Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Co-Axial Chronograph watch at Omega retails soon. Price will likey go from roughly $5,000 - $20,000.
