Only Watch is a special charity auction held each year in Monaco as a partnership between a Swiss auction house and the Monaco Yacht Show. The cool part of the event is that your favorite watch makers contribute to the auction by offering a special unique watch (hence the "only watch" name). These unique watches are either the first of a limited edition series or something totally unique. Such as is the case with this solid 18k red gold Omega Seamaster Ploprof watch. You can see right on the dial that it says "1/1 Only Watch."
For many diving watch enthusiasts the 1970s Omega Ploprof (named as such for its development in conjunction with the French "Plongeurs professionnels") was the ultimate diving watch. A fantastic collectors item. This year, Omega announced a re-release of the Ploprof watch to everyone's joy. Now the watch is a veritable diving instrument with 1200 meters of watch resistance -so this solid red gold version weighing 250 grams is sort of a humorous parody, though it is still quite nice. A sapphire crystal also covers the bezel and inside the watch is Omega's Co-Axial automatic calibre 8501 movement. The odd button near 2 o'clock is a release for the rotating bezel, and the watch also has an automatic helium escape valve. Size is over 55mm wide for this golden diving beast of a watch. It is crazy and cool, and you should love it. Who knows how much this timepiece will sell for, but only one lucky person will have it. The Only Watch auction is on September 24th this year in Monaco.
