Inside Lacrosse Magazine has named Denver the best lacrosse town in the U.S. Denver beat out such traditional lax hotbeds as Baltimore, Philadelphia, Long Island, and Boston for the top spot, legitimizing the town's newly acquired status as a budding powerhouse of the sport.
The selection was based on several categories, including pro, high school, college, youth and upside. The Outlaws, Mammoth, Bill Tierney, and Colorado State where all cited in the article as major factors in the selection process. Kent Denver and Cherry Creek High Schools were also named along with a exponential rise in the youth lacrosse scene over the past two decades. Throw in some celebrity name drops and it adds up to Denver beating out the rest of the country, and the east coast in general, as the new hot spot of lacrosse. The story also called for a potential Final Four hosting soon, complimenting the MCLA Tournament, and MLL and NLL All-Star games the city has been the cite of in recent years.
Not everyone was happy with the selection, however, as the comments called for the heads of Inside Lacrosse's editorial staff, accusing the whole examination as a propaganda technique. Click here to read the full article from Inside Lacrosse, along with the best of the rest.
