For those of you who might have been of the opinion that the New York Post’s controversial cartoon was open to interpretations other than those of a racist bent…this is for you.

Los Alamitos, CA mayor…yes, MAYOR Dean Grose sent out a mass email (to those including African-Americans) with this picture attached, which replaced the White House garden with…

A watermelon patch.

What, no lawn jockey at the front of the patch?  No flaming cross in the front yard?  No dirty, half-dressed picaninnies running about?  If you’re going to go “offensive” show some balls and go all the way.  Show a watermelon patch AND a cotton field while you’re at it.

Not only that, after one is “truly” bold and brazen in one’s racist stupidity…don’t back off after the fact.  If you’re going to be absolute idiot, claim and be true to the stupidity.  Go ALL the way.  No stupid act goes unrewarded, so be sure to garner ALL the fruits of your unintelligent labor.

Mayor Grose had this to say…

The way things are today, you gotta laugh every now and then. I wanna see the coloring contests.”

#1…what the hell does “coloring contests” mean?  #2, What’s funny about the juxtaposition of watermelons and the President of the United States?  #3, see #1 and 2.

But so far so good…he’s being consistent in his idiocy.  He started strong and is maintaining momentum.

Gold star for Grose.

Then…it went all to hell for Grose.  He later “apologized,” among other things claiming ironically “ignorance” of the offensive nature of watermelon “humor” in relation to African-Americans.

”It was just poor judgment on my part, and I am deeply sorry.”

Punk.  Be a man.  If you’re going to be an idiot, at least be a man about it.

That’s just Mo’Kelly’s opinion.  Express yours personally and directly to Gross at dgrose@ci.los-alamitos.ca.us

Mo’Kelly would say exercise discretion and respect, but don’t worry about it.  Say whatever you want and then follow it up two days later with another email explaining…

”It was just poor judgment on my part, and I am deeply sorry.”

But hurry…word is he’s turning in his resignation.  Don’t let him walk out the door, be sure to help give him a good shove in the process.
